While searching for the dragon balls, Goten, Trunks, and Videl encounter Brolly who crash landed on Earth after supposedly being defeated in DBZ movie 8. The three don't do well against Brolly until Gohan arrives to help. Despite the years between the fight on New Vegeta and the present battle, even Gohan's Super Saiyajin 2 form isn't strong enough to compete against Brolly. All seems lost until the dragon balls perform a miracle.
Having another Tenkaichi Budoukai funded by Mr. Money for his son's birthday, Mr. Satan invites everyone on Earth to a competition on a remote island. The Z Senshi all go, and Goku - who is still dead with Kaio-Sama - wishes he could compete. After the elimination rounds, the winners reach the final where Mr. Satan's students are dressed as aliens (or so it seems) and are to serve as foes for the warriors. However, Bojack and his men, who were at one time imprisoned within a star by the Kaios, have changed things in secret. They take over the tournament and fight the Z Senshi. After all seems lost, Goku's words of encouragement give Gohan the power he needs to stand up to Bojack and his men.
Bojack is depicted as having a husky build, and resembles something of a gypsy-pirate. His skin is colored teal, his long hair is orange and he has a long scar scaling his face. Bojack has a maximum-power transformation which renders his skin chartreuse, his hair red and his muscle mass increased over the top (a trait which numerous foes encountered in Dragon Ball possess). His outfit is also shredded by the transformation, in a manner which mirrors the transformation of Bruce Banner to the Hulk.
Bido is one of Bojack's four Galaxy Soldiers, and is particularly the powerhouse of the crew. His appearance is similar to that of his comrades, all members of the same race, as he sports teal-colored skin and orange hair styled into a mohawk. He often collaborates with Bujin in battle, taking down the foes that Bujin traps within his needles of energy.

Cash for his son's birthday, Bojack seeks to eliminate every single fighter on Earth in order to be rid of any obstacles in the way of universal conquest. Bido is among the minions ordered to frequent the battle arenas, where he burrows underneath dunes of sand in the zone where Dosukoi is wandering. Bido spontaneously rises from beneath the sand and lifts Dosukoi by the neck, proceeding to strangle him to death in front of an unseen camera while the presiding audience watches in horror (as murder is a breach of the tournament's rules).
Later in the film, Yamcha and Tien arrive to assist Gohan's struggle against the Galaxy Soldiers, where they fight but are defeated by Bido, Bujin and Zangya. When Gohan assumes his Super Saiyan 2 transformation however, he makes short work of both Bido and Bujin, breaking them both in half with a single punch and kick respectively, vaporizing each on impact.

Brolly is born with a level of 10,000, a power greater than most elite Saiyan warriors, and he is mentally unsettled as an adult, partially due to the crying of the infant Goku in the incubator next to him when they were born. He eventually becomes the "Legendary Super Saiyan" and his destructive tendencies are quelled by a special control device created by scientists for his father, Paragus. After Paragus lures Vegeta, Goku, and their companions to another planet, Broly recalls Goku and goes into a rage. He is eventually defeated, and manages to make his way into an escape pod. He later lands on Earth and goes into a frozen state until the crying of Goku's son, Goten, awakens him. He is killed by Goku, Gohan and Goten, though blood samples make their way into the hands of an industrialist who creates cloned warriors. The clone eventually awakens and becomes mixed with bio-liquid, transforming him into Bio-Broly. He is eventually killed by Goten, Trunks, and Krillin.
The real film now opens with the completion of Androids 14 and 15, who attack Goku while he is shopping with Chi-Chi and Gohan. Not wanting to destroy the city they're in, Goku and Future Trunks, who had arrived just then, leave for an uninhabited Arctic area. The fight seems even until Android 13 shows up - at least until Vegeta and Piccolo arrive. At that point of time, both Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks ascend to their Super Saiyan forms and 14 and 15 are destroyed by Trunks and Vegeta, respectively. Just when the fight seems won, 13 shows off his "Super" form by absorbing two components of the two fallen Androids, transforming into a blue behemoth and vastly increasing his power, changing the battle's outcome yet again. Despite all their efforts, Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and Trunks are subsequently beaten by the powerful android. But then Goku prepares his Spirit Bomb, and, after transforming into a Super Saiyan, he absorbs its energy into his body (Krillin remarks that Goku's ability to transform shows that he retains his pure heart in Super Saiyan form) and destroys the Android menace. As 13, 14, and 15 are ultimately destroyed, Dr. Gero's computer shuts down for good, while still shouting the words "Goku must die!". The film closes Goku and his friends healing in the hospital.

Android 15 is completed by Dr. Gero's self-aware supercomputer alongside Android 14. Android 15 takes the appearance of a very short and small man with large pink lips and dark skin tone. He dons a large green hat with a red ball on top, what some consider the rendition of a "pimp's" hat. He has a black and white tuxedo shirt with a dark yellow and blue overcoat. He also wears a red bow tie sporting the "Red Ribbon" logo. He also wears baggy light blue pants and black boots. He can be seen drinking what is presumably a small flask of alcohol though out the film, usually directly prior to engagement in battle. Early, he & android 14 fight with Goku together. But, finally Android 15 is destroyed by Vegeta following Vegeta's transformation to Super Saiyan by decapitating him with a punch.
Android 14 is completed by Dr. Gero's self-aware supercomputer alongside Android 15. Android 14 takes the appearance of a large, heavily built muscular man, especially with the long black ponytail and facial features. He dons a brown brassard and belt combination, large brown gloves, a long green skirt, and yellow and black boots. His skin tone is a shade of silver and unlike all other androids created by Gero or his computer, has brown eyes instead of blue.
The movie begins with Cooler arriving on New Namek within the Big Gete Star. He molds the liquid metal exterior of the star around New Planet Namek, absorbing its energy. Dende, who is now the Earth's guardian, senses the plight of his people and calls Goku to ask for help.
Goku, Gohan, Oolong, Krillin, Yajirobe, Master Roshi and Piccolo arrive and encounter an army of robots which Cooler deployed on the planet to enslave the Namekians, whom he plans to use as biological fuel for the Big Gete Star.
At first the Z Fighters have trouble penetrating the armor of Cooler's Cyclopian Guards, but Piccolo instructs them to concentrate their energy to one point, and doing so allows them to destroy a few of the robots. However, there were too many to handle and the warriors are captured along with the Namekians. Throughout the battle, Goku is distracted by a familiar face - that of Cooler, who he was sure had perished years ago. Goku battles Cooler, but it is apparent that Goku is no match for Cooler's new metallic form which gives him the ability to regenerate himself. He was even outclassed after becoming a Super Saiyan. Cooler reveals that the Big Gete Star constantly monitors his body, and fixes any problems or glitches that may occur (like Cooler's arm getting torn off for example) while also strengthening him in such a way that it can't happen the same way twice.
Vegeta shows up and joins the battle, and they soon dispose of Cooler. However, the Big Gete Star housed an army of Cooler clones. Outnumbered and drained of energy, Goku and Vegeta are captured and transported to the Big Gete Star's core to be used as energy to power it. As Cooler is leeching their Super Saiyan strength via strange wires, Goku and Vegeta regain consciousness and release all their Super Saiyan energy to the wires, overloading the system. They then blast the true Cooler with the last of their energy, causing his ultimate demise as the Big Gete Star explodes in New Namek's orbit.
Goku and Vegeta fall from the sky near the rest of the Z Fighters, and everyone rejoices. They then realize that Vegeta is nowhere to be found, and Goku looks up at the sky. Vegeta is shown flying in space in his Space Pod with the last remaining chip of the Big Gete Star in his hands. He then crushes it and heads back to Earth.

In this movie, Frieza's older brother Cooler is introduced. It begins with a flashback to when Frieza destroyed the Saiyan home world, Planet Vegeta. Cooler's ship soon picks up Goku's space pod on the radar. Goku's ship is shown to be heading towards Earth, but Cooler's henchmen believe it is an escape. Cooler lets the ship go, believing it to be no threat. More than twenty years later, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan and defeats Frieza on Planet Namek. Showing no compassion towards his brother, Cooler takes his Armored Squadron - Doure, Naiz, and Salza to Earth. He plans to kill Goku in order to reclaim his family's honor. His forces ambush Goku and his friends on a camping trip, and Goku is wounded when he takes a blast from Cooler that was intended for Gohan.
After Krillin sets up a shelter in a cave with Goku, Gohan flies off to obtain Senzu beans from Korin. After obtaining the beans, he is ambushed by Cooler's henchmen, but is saved by Piccolo. Piccolo dispatches Doure and Naiz, and takes on Salza, easily gaining the upper hand. During the battle, Cooler arrives and catches Piccolo off-guard with a powerful energy beam, which impales him through the chest but does not kill him. Cooler then sends Salza after Gohan as he continues to blast Piccolo. Gohan gets to the cave with the Senzu beans, but they are destroyed by Salza. However, he heals Goku with a spare bean Yajirobe gave him earlier. After Krillin and Gohan are beaten down by Salza, Goku appears fully healed. Cooler shows up, holding onto an unconscious Piccolo. He then blasts his body with an unexpected attack as Goku watches in horror. Goku blasts Salza into the distance, and begins to fight Cooler.
After Goku proves to be a worthy opponent, Cooler tells of his history with Frieza. He then reveals his final transformation, and pummels Goku around effortlessly, despite Goku using the Kamehameha and Kaio-ken techniques numerous times. Cooler then proceeds to destroy the landscape. However, after seeing a bird die from wounds inflicted by damage caused during the struggle, Goku thinks back on his friends and family, how they all would be killed if he let Cooler kill him. He then picks up the dead bird, letting out a yell so powerful it cracks solid stone. Goku then transforms into his Super Saiyan form, and gives enough of his energy to revive the bird. Cooler then finds himself, like Frieza was, grossly outclassed. After attempting to punch and blast the Super Saiyan with no effect, Cooler summons a trump card when he powers up an enormous ball of energy. Cooler launches the attack with hopes to destroy Goku and the Earth along with him. After a stint of struggling, Goku eventually manages to send it back with the Kamehameha, forcing Cooler off the Earth, towards the sun. Cooler thinks about destroying the sun, which would end life on Earth, but realizes he's headed right for it. As Cooler curses Goku, he suddenly realizes that Goku is the Saiyan he let escape. His body is then seemingly disintegrated by the sun.
Goku, drained after his battle, is found by Krillin and Gohan. They are looking for Piccolo when Salza reappears, and prepares to kill them all. However, before he can attack, he is killed by Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon from a distance. Gohan looks around for Piccolo, and the movie ends with Piccolo gazing skyward.

He and the others are assigned to finding Goku so his master can acquire vengeance in accordance to Frieza's failure. Finding Gohan, he grabs his tail thinking he is Goku. Later, he appears to attack Gohan and this ensues a fight between Piccolo, who soon thereafter kills him with a homing ki blast as Doore tries to chase Gohan to kill him.
Apparently, he didn't know (or at least forgot) that Planet Namek was destroyed until he met Piccolo, as he asked why [Piccolo] isn't on his homeworld where he belongs, to which Neiz reminds him that Frieza blew it up.
He later escapes Hell with all the other villains in Fusion Reborn but is killed again.
The asteroid passes near Earth but misses the crash, exploding soon afterward. However, a spaceship from the asteroid lands on Earth, full of soldiers who serve Lord Slug. Lord Slug is the main antagonist in the movie. Along with his crew of vicious fighters, he traveled from planet to planet wreaking chaos as he went. They attempt to carry out on Earth the same destruction there that they had at a countless number of other planets. The way they dominated a planet was to literally change its atmosphere, freezing the planet. By conforming it to their liking, they made it more suitable for themselves and almost unlivable for any other people, including the native occupants of the planet. Later they transform the planet into a giant spaceship, and move on to find a new planet to conquer.
Upon their landing, a nearby Gohan attempted to stop Slug's soldiers. Slug noticed the Dragon Ball Gohan had on his hat. After reading Bulma's mind, Slug learned about the Dragon Balls and how to get them. Lord Slug had aged hundreds of years and was rapidly approaching the end of his life. So he sent his minions to gather the Dragon Balls, and used them to restore his youth and health; like King Piccolo before him, being fully restored gave him a far greater power.
Goku, along with his son Gohan and Piccolo, squared off against Slug's team and managed to defeat them all. The final battle against Slug was left in the hands of Goku. Goku was able to take Slug on in an incredibly fierce battle. Slug started having the upper hand, until Goku was able to go Super Saiyan (or False Super Saiyan as the form was later named), and started beating Slug.
But Slug then revealed his Namekian nature, and transformed into a giant version of himself. King Kai revealed that Slug was a Namekian who had left the planet a long time ago. But he had a strange mutation that made him pure evil, and was powerful enough to be called a Super Namek. In his new form, Slug started pounding Goku.
The battle was not going well for Goku until he was discarded by Slug who drew his attention away to Piccolo. In a surprising move, Piccolo torn off his ears and told Gohan to whistle. Exploiting a weakness of all Namekians, their extremely sensitive hearing, Gohan's whistling was able to bring Slug to his knees.
Piccolo also gave what little strength remained in him to Goku in his battle against Slug. Thanks to Piccolo, Goku was able to use the Kaio-ken, and managed to punch a hole through Slug's stomach, weakening the Super Namek severely. Goku was able to defeat Slug with ease from that point on. The movie ends with Goku flying up above the clouds to deliver the final blow to Slug with a Genki Dama powered-up from energy taken from the Sun. The Genki Dama heads straight into the freezing generator, taking Slug with it and destroying him.
